About the event
The chilly excitement of the annual Ice Festival has descended upon Cripple Creek once again, marking its impressive 15th year of frosty festivities. As the final weekend approaches, organizers are gearing up for a spectacular finish to the icy extravaganza. Scheduled for February 17-25, the 2024 Cripple Creek Ice Festival promises a week filled with awe-inspiring ice sculptures and thrilling competitions.
One of the highlights of the event is the head-to-head carving challenges, set to take place on Saturdays at 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM, and 3:00 PM. Carvers from around the country will showcase their skills in a stadium setting, vying for a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize each weekend. Additionally, carving teams will compete for the prestigious People’s Choice Award, accompanied by a substantial cash reward. Visitors are encouraged to plan their visit and cast their votes for the most impressive creations.
Among the esteemed carving teams participating in this year's festival are renowned names such as SNICE Carving, Cool Hand Ice, The Bear Spot, The Ice Farm, and Ice Castles. Witness their imaginations come to life as they sculpt intricate designs from blocks of ice.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public throughout its duration. Visitors can observe the talented carvers at work on their sculptures, with activities, vendors, and head-to-head carving competitions exclusively available on the weekends of February 17-19 and February 24-25, including President’s Day. The festivities will run from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, weather permitting. Attendees are advised to dress warmly and immerse themselves in the wonder of this incredible event.
Please take note that Bennett Avenue will be closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic on February 13th and 20th to facilitate ice delivery, ensuring the seamless execution of this beloved winter celebration.
